Simple Summer Salad

Salad with cucumber tomatoes feta

Barbecue season is open for a couple of months now, but the weather here in Holland wasn’t so nice. So we only used our bbq twice or so.
But the last few days Summer really started and what is better then to eat outside in your garden or on your balcony. And preferable with easy to make recipes which only cost you some minutes to make.
This Summer salad is one of those easy recipes, easy to make, with easy to buy ingredients. Continue reading “Simple Summer Salad”

Sunday Smoothie: Tomato mix with pepper

Tomato juice for sundaysmoothie with tomato juice, pepper and spring onion

We had a great weekend, on Friday and Saturday night we went to a festival called “Parkfeest Oosterhout”. Most artists on the festival are Dutch. Friday night was with cover bands and as closing act a couple of Dj’s with a 80’s – 90’s program. Yesterday was with Di-rect and Raccoon. You see them on every festival in Holland during summer, but who cares. Music isn’t the most important thing of the festival for me. With this “parkfeest” you always bump into old friends or people you haven’t seen for a while. The other side of a weekend like this is, that most of the time we don’t sleep enough, and during the day I feel my energy levels dive south;-). I can drink some coffee then, but today I combined it with the Smoothie Sunday. Read more about the energy boost. Continue reading “Sunday Smoothie: Tomato mix with pepper”

Little pies with green asparagus, Hollandaise sauce and (quail) egg

Little pie mad with green asparagus tips, hollandaise sauce and a quale egg

Last year we had to make the starter for the Kiwanis OLUM diner. M. just became a member of Kiwanis Oosterhout, so a good way to meet the members of this group. The Olum diner is the same as a Dinner en Route. With a Dinner en Route, the whole group is separated into smaller groups. With this dinner we have three courses (starter, main course and dessert). With every course the groups change and also the places where you have your course are different. And with every course another couple cooks a course.
We choose  to make little pies with green asparagus with hollandaise sauce and quail eggs. Read further for the recipe. Continue reading “Little pies with green asparagus, Hollandaise sauce and (quail) egg”

Focaccia Sandwich with vegetables

homemade Focaccia sandwich with vegetables

A couple of weeks ago I gave you the recipe for a  Focaccia bread. A focaccia bread is nice to eat with soup or with other meals as a sidedish.
But you can also make a focaccia sandwich of it, for lunch or for dinner. Of course you can buy a Focaccia for this recipe, only in the village where I live, I couldn’t find one, so that’s why I started baking my own Focaccia. And I think the ones you bake yourself are most of the time a lot more tastier than the ones you buy in the stores. Continue reading “Focaccia Sandwich with vegetables”

White asparagus with eggs, ham and potatoes

White asparagus with eggs, ham and potatoes

White asparagus. They call them the white gold, since the taste is so good. In reality you like them a lot or you don’t like them at all. There doesn’t seem to be a way in between.
I like them a lot and luckily M. too. And when the season starts, we eat these vegetables at least one time in a week.
In Holland we can buy the green ones the whole year, but the white ones (the real dutch ones) are only in the stores or at the farms from the end of March to the beginning of June. Continue reading “White asparagus with eggs, ham and potatoes”
